Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur, a light, modern Marine timepiece for those who captain their own destiny.
Ulysse Nardin‘s history and character is profoundly tied to that of the marine chronometer, in 2017 the brand has taken advantage of its history and has launched the Marine Torpilleur, which it calls a chronometer for modern times.
Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur
While it has drawn inspiration from vintage marine chronometers, the Marine Torpilleur is a more contemporary and relaxed option in contrast to the brand’s current Marine Chronometer watches.
With a name that has drawn inspiration from the destroyers, fast, maneuverable, long-endurance warships, the Marine Torpilleur lives up to it’s name, being a lighter, more slender variant of the notorious Marine Chronometer. Many of the design practices of the 19th century pocket watches have been used in it’s creation, with the added advantage of being wrist-worn.
The watch is a COSC certified chronometer and it comes with the brand’s own Ulysse Nardin Performance Certificate, providing independent assurance on the accuracy of the timepiece. The oscillator consists of an inertia balance wheel fitted with a silicon hairspring.
The movement is decorated and open-worked through a sapphire crystal case back that features the brand’s logo, with Geneva stripes that grace the bridges and upholds watchmaking tradition.
The movement contains 50 jewels and has a power reserve of approximately 60 hours and the date can be adjusted in either direction without fear of damaging the movement.
It can be said that the Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur watch features an interesting, eye-catching design. Although, despite the connotations of the name, the watch offers water resistance for only up to 50m, or 165 feet.
